It seems like a good time to just remind you about the Woodland Trust's work with Marks & Spencer to recycle Christmas cards to plant trees. Hopefully it will be run again this year, but essentially each year, M&S plants a tree for every 1,000 cards dropped into their collection bins in UK-wide stores; the aim is to plant 10,000 trees per year!
So please fellow animal lover, make a mental note to keep your Christmas cards and I will put a blog up once I know whether M&S are placing Christmas cards in their stores again this year.
Meantime, if you feel like doing some early preparation for Christmas and have idle thoughts of buying your Christmas cards (so that they appear in time for Christmas), you could take look at animal charities online shops and consider buying your Christmas cards from them. And then when you get your Christmas cards through the post, just cut off the stamps and keep them safe ready to send off to your favourite animal charity! And don't forget the charities which look after wildlife habitat ...
