The day draws attention to the challenges many polar bears face in a warming Arctic.
There is something we can all do to help, and much of what we can do is down to our lifestyle.
Polar Bears International are asking us all to adjust our thermostats a few degrees, up or down depending on where we live. (Try to reduce your reliance on power and it's amazing how much money you can save. We just heat the rooms we are using in our house and it's saved us ££££££.) Do what you can do insulate your home - use a draught excluder to stop draughts coming in through doors.
The polar bear's sea ice is melting away.
If we don't all change our habits the ice could melt away. People could be affected as well from rising sea levels, crop failures and extreme weather events from droughts to floods.
You can also sign the Petition for Polar Bears and so speak up for polar bears. Ask the world's nations to create a plan for greenhouse gas reductions that are fast and deep enough to help polar bears. Speak up for renewable energy, join in efforts to stop deforestation and stand up for a greener world.
You can also support Polar Bears International in their efforts to help polar bears by adopting a polar bear as a gift or just for yourself.
Or just visit Polar Bears International website to find out more about polar bears and the work the charity is doing to help them.
