Gift ideas for nature lovers

If you're looking for a Mother's Day gift which is just a bit different for a Mum who loves nature, it would be worth taking a look at animal charities to see what they have as gifts.

The People's Trust for Endangered Species have some delightful gift ideas in their online shop including wildlife guides, books and publications, wildlife art and presents specifically for Mother's Day.

I particularly liked their Gifts of Nature, which included things such as Speed Camera for Jaguars, Train a Sheepdog to save a Cheetah, Make Love not War, Rescue Oinkment, A Paw on the Property Ladder, a Gardener's Friend, and Walk on the Wild Side.

They also run surveys they need volunteers for, so if you can spare some time and  you want to make a difference to wildlife, take a look at their surveys here.   They have surveys you can do in your garden, on the road and in the countryside.

They also run events, including wildlife encounters for adults and children, training courses and conferences.  For instance, there's a Hedgehog Day at Battersea Park's Children's Zoo in April - you must book in advance.  The wildlife encounters could make a great gift for a nature lover who wants to find out more about wildlife and they also include a couple of wildlife photography days.

This video will tell you more about the PTES:
